Sky Q - magic eye issue
Lads,

Just had the sky q installed and found out that our magic eyes can't be used to view sky in different rooms. Does anyone know how to get around this issue without paying for multi-room or buying the sky q mini box? Cheers

You can always use your own Powerline adaptors too mallard, works fine (well, unless someone is using a hoover or a hairdryer)

It IS a mission, you need to spend over £100 for a decent modulator.

Miniboxes rely on a strong wireless connection to the Main Q box - unless it's within close proximity, it can be unstable unless hard wired.

Sky will be enabling a 'powerline' function next year, but this will only prove successful if both boxes are on the same electrical ring main

GOM/Vexed - was having issues with both my mini boxes, read that connecting the Silver box to your router via a network cable (and go through the specific setting menu to change it to that) would resolve it. Did that a couple of months ago and haven't had to reboot either of them since

Why do you give Sky all that money?

Doesn't sound fit for purpose

Sounds like a mission. Agree with whoever said the miniboxes are unreliable, fucking drives me up the wall the number of glitches they have that require a reboot. The silver box is pretty much rock solid though.

Mallard,

Seen on Amazon that I can get a decent splitter for 12quid, but what type of modulator do I need? Looks like the prices range from 30-120quid?

I don't know how to solve your problem, but do yourself a favour and don't bother with the Sky Q mini just yet.

The main box is good, stable and reliable, but the mini has several issues all of which require a re-boot to resolve. Sky tell us that regular updates are supposed to e resolving them, but to date that has not happened.

# power inserter for the magic eyes

Re: Sky Q - magic eye issue
You need a HDMI Splitter plus a HDMI to RF modulator.

Depending on what splitter you have, you may also need a power insert or for the magic eyes to actually turn over.
